Project x29
A downloadable game for Windows
Everybody knows that the Ancients were able to do incredible, magnificents things. Unlike us, their puny descendants, they were even able to travel freely between the worlds! Sadly, their advanced knowledge and technology have been lost and we are only left with some artifacts that we have no idea how to use.
A recent discovery by Prof. Braumber, who found a way to activate several ancient portals, was met with a surge of enthusiasm. The enthusiasm, however, has quickly waned as it became clear that the world accessible through the portals, which was named Arvie Flar by its re-discoverer, is an undeveloped, wild, and dangerous place. To make things worse, savage soldiers of an unknown army appear to live in this world, fiercely attacking explorers and settlers.
These unfortunate circumstances have greatly affected the interest in Arvie Flar among world governments and major corporations. And this is exactly where a middle-tier corporation Limbader & Co saw an opportunity. It managed to acquire the concession rights for Arvie Flar and believes that it can extract profit from this world. Mr. Limbader's plan is quite simple: acting quickly, the corporate workers get as many resources as possible while the corporate armed forces protect them from the mysterious army. Nice and easy, what could possibly go wrong?
You have a good chance to get the leading position on this planned expedition. It would be a tremendous move for your career, and of course it would allow you to demonstrate your extraordinary leadership as well as analytical and problem-solving skills. As the negotiations with Limbader & Co are almost over, you arrive to the city of Nörsten for a final interview with your potential employer. Good luck!
Yeah, right: Laser Squad, X-Com, JA-2, Fallout-1/2, spiritual succession etc. Everybody seems to have a different idea of which parts of those games should be preserved intact and which parts should be removed, altered, or completely redesigned in order to make that spiritual successor thing.
This project is my idea of what a good game could look like.

The game has an issue where the cursor doesn't line up in game, it's always off horizontally to the left. I'm on Windows 10 if that makes a difference. (Would be nice if this game had a discord for a community as well.)
Hi Generic Scout! There is no discord group is available at the moment, but you may email me to: mruberg dot verd at proton dot me
The bug you're describing is somewhat weird, I've never seen anything like that but it definitely would make sense to take a closer look. Do you have one or multiple displays? It would help to know their resolutions, scale, orientations, and if the displays are extended/duplicated/etc. On Windows 10 this information can be obtained from Settings->System->Display page. Alternatively, I can extend in-game logging to make it record all this on start, if you find it too cumbersome to retrieve this information manually.
I have one display. 1024x768. Display orientation is landscape. Scale is at 100%. Though when I start the game the window goes starts off my screen a bit.
using the projectx29.exe to launch the game.
sent an email with an image of what it looks like to me when starting the program. Sorry for any trouble with the messaging. (just not sure if it got sent to the right email yet.)
I've received the message and yes, now I see what you mean: there is a bug in scaling the game screen down from the default size. A fix is being worked on.
Thank you very much for reporting the bug!
As a follow-up: the issue has been fixed in ver. 0.44.
Everything looks amazing and very polished. Good Work!
It is super nice to hear that you like the game. Thank you!
